Although she had requested ‘NO’ celebrations to honour her birthday during the COVID-19 pandemic year 2020. This illustration was created to mark the special day and year.

This illustration symbolises a Queen’s love and respect for the nation. She wears a subliminal dress colour used by our NHS staff. This was the colour she wore during her address to the Nation in the absence of our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson whilst he was in hospital, on Sunday 5th April 2020.

We were reminded that her words of strength, support, and unity were heard, holding a moment of great importance to all of us during that historical time.

In this illustration, she gives a gentle nod to all of us who follow the instructions:

STAY AT HOME • PROTECT THE NHS • SAVE LIVES

But mostly this nod is for all the key workers. From the heroic teachers to postal workers, the supermarket staff, bus and train drivers, waste collectors, firefighters, the police force, care workers and all the volunteers especially those frontline NHS staff.

After doing some research it became apparent that during her reign, the Queen was presented with an array of incredible animals. These have included many stallion horses and many exotic animals, cared for at the ZSL London and Whipsnade Zoo. Some of these animals were the perfect selection of hidden gems used for this piece.
